Tangoubukan Demonstrates Naginata at the IPAC Moon Festival

The Tangoubukan on September 28 performed  at this year's  International Performing Arts Center (IPAC) Moon Festival-China Day in San Jose.
Demonstrators included Veronica Gunawan (nidan) and James Libby (nidan), who performed a demonstration of
shikake-oji, andSaiyou Ohshima (sandan) and Martin Nobida (yondan), who performed a round of jigeiko.

NCNF to Hold Special Events in October

The Northern California Naginata Federation (NCNF) will host two special events in October. The first event will be a special practice session with Midori Yasui, a visiting sensei from Japan; the second event will be its annual fall seminar and tournament .

Yasui sensei will teach a special class on Saturday Oct. 18, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at the International Performing Arts Center (IPAC) located at 6148 Bollinger Road, in San Jose: 

The following weekend, the NCNF will hold its 2014 fall seminar on Saturday Oct. 25, from noon to 6 pm, at the El Cerrito Community Center. The NCNF testing, board meeting, and tournament will be held on Sunday Oct. 26, from 10:30 am to  5 pm, also at the  El Cerrito Community Center.

There will be a $50 seminar fee. The tournament will be a non-official practice tournament, and is covered by the seminar fee. These events are open to NCNF members of any skill level. Please RSVP by October 10.

Tangoubukan to Demonstrate at the Moon Festival at IPAC

The Tangoubukan on September 28 will demonstrate at this year's Moon Festival-China Day at the International Performing Arts Center (IPAC), also known as CPAA.

Instructors and senior students will do short demonstrations of shikake-oji (two-person forms) as well as jigeiko (sparring).

The Moon Festival is a two-day event. The first day's festivities will take place from 11 am to 1 pm at the Whole Foods Supermarket at 20955 Stevens Creek Blvd., in Cupertino. The second day's activities will be held at the IPAC, at 6148 Bollinger Road, in San Jose. The IPAC is located at the corner of Bollinger Road and Miller Avenue.

The naginata demonstrations are scheduled to be held around 1230 pm on Sept. 28 at IPAC.
